How grounding works
Grounding is a discipline, not a setting.
Four properties do the work. If any one of them is missing, the answer stops being something you can sign.

Closed corpus
Answers are produced only from the sources inside the notebook. Nothing outside your material can become a claim.

Page-level retrieval
Long documents are split into overlapping passages with their offsets kept, so a citation can name the page or section — not just the file.

Visible absence
When your sources do not support a question, the notebook is allowed to say so. A gap is reported as a gap, not smoothed over.

Reopenable evidence
Every claim in a brief links back to the excerpt it came from, so a reviewer six months later can still check your working.

FAQ
Questions worth asking before you trust it.
What stops it making things up?
Two things. First, the answer is built only from the sources in that notebook, so there is nothing outside your material to draw on. Second, when those sources do not cover the question, the notebook reports the gap instead of filling it. You will still see the occasional imprecise sentence — which is exactly why every claim carries a receipt you can open.
What file types can I use?
PDF, DOCX and plain text, up to 20 MB per file. Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked before upload, because the text has to be readable to be cited.
Is my material used to train models?
No. Your notebooks are private to your account and are not used to train models. They are shared only when you deliberately share them, and deleting a notebook removes its sources with it.
How precise are the citations?
Retrieval works at passage level rather than whole-file level, so a citation can name the page or section it came from. Where a document has no reliable page structure, the citation falls back to the document itself.
What happens when I hit a plan limit?
Nothing is deleted. Existing notebooks and sources stay readable, and you are told which limit you reached and what the next plan allows. You can upgrade from inside the app without losing work.
Can I take my work out?
Yes. Generated artifacts can be downloaded or duplicated, and answers can be shared as a link to a read-only view when you need to hand something to someone outside your account.

Notebooks are visible only to you unless you explicitly share one.
Delete means delete
Removing a notebook removes its sources with it, rather than leaving them behind.
